Nick Ervin, a 2-year-old Mesa boy, who fell into a swimming pool Wednesday, died Thursday night at Desert Samaritan Medical Center.
Assistant Fire Chief Mary Cameli said the boy's parents told her their son opened a closed gate to get into the pool, located in the 6400 block of East Holiday Drive. His mother and firefighters administered CPR before he was taken to the hospital.
