A 2-year-old boy remains in extremely critical condition after being discovered in a green pool around 4 p.m. Sunday.

The baby had no pulse and no respiration, Glendale Deputy Fire Chief Elio Pompa said.

The boy was rushed to Banner Thunderbird Medical Center and later flown Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Pompa said about 40 family members had gathered after a funeral at a home on the 2900 block of W. Cortez Street near 59th Avenue and Cactus Road.

"Somehow, someway they lost sight of this child," Pompa said.
