A 4-year-old girl was likely saved from drowning in a backyard pool by her mother, who has EMT experience and CPR training.
By the time paramedics arrived to a neighbors house in Chandler at about 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, the girl was breathing on her own and had a pulse.
It's too soon to know if there will be permanent neurological damage, said Battalion Chief Paul Nies, a Chandler Fire Spokesman.
The girl was at a neighbor's pool near Pecos and McQueen Road with several other children, including her 10-year-old brother who spotted the girl submerged in the water at about the same time as the girl's mother.
The mother pulled the girl out and started CPR. She was rushed to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa.
