A 2-year-old boy was taken to county hospital in critical condition after being found in a backyard pool Saturday, according to the Scottsdale Fire Department.
Scottsdale and Tempe fire units responded to a reported drowning in the 1300 block of 87th Place in Scottsdale at about 12:45 p.m.
The caller had pulled the boy out of the pool and had begun CPR before the fire units arrived, said Tiffani Nichols, Fire Department spokeswoman.
It is unknown how long he was in the water.
The boy was not breathing and did not have a pulse when being transported to the hospital, Nichols said.
