A toddler was taken to a Mesa hospital in very critical condition Saturday morning after he was found in a home swimming pool, fire officials said.
Around 9 a.m., the Mesa Fire Department received a drowning call near Sossaman and Guadalupe roads, said Dave Johnson, a spokesman with the Mesa Fire Department.
Johnson said a 2½-year-old boy was found in a home swimming pool, and the boy's father immediately performed CPR.
The father estimated the child had been in the water for five to 10 minutes, Johnson said.
When firefighters arrived, they performed advanced life support on the boy, Johnson said.
The boy was transported by helicopter to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa.
