A 2-year-old boy was in extremely critical condition Saturday after his parents found him floating in their home swimming pool in Surprise, fire officials said.
Surprise Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Pool said a 911 call was made at 3:08 p.m. for a drowning near 178th Avenue and Watson Lane.
The child was taking a nap, and when his parents went to wake him up, he was missing, Pool said.
The parents started searching for the child and found him floating in their swimming pool. When they pulled him out, the child had no pulse, Pool said.
The parents started doing CPR before firefighters arrived.
Pool said they do not know how long the boy was in the water.
The boy was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in extremely critical condition, Pool said.
