A two-year-old Mesa boy drowned in a pool during a family gathering Tuesday night.
Mesa authorities said the boy's family had gathered at a home near Gilbert and Broadway roads to celebrate a confirmation Tuesday about 10 p.m. The child managed to get out of the house and was missing for about 10 minutes before his father found him in a pool, said Officer Mike Melendez, spokesman for Mesa police.
The boy was treated on scene and then taken to a local hospital where he later died.
Investigators said they found no evidence of wrongdoing on behalf of the family.
"There was no alcohol or anything, and the other children at the gathering were all kept inside," Melendez said.
Officials said it is unknown how the child managed to get outside, but added that he went missing for about ten minutes before his father found him.
