A toddler has passed away after being found floating in a backyard pool Monday night.
Rural Metro fire spokesman Mark Cichocki said the 14-month-old boy was found about 7:30 p.m. at a home near Combs and Schnepf roads.
Cichocki said it was unclear how long he had been under water. He said the child was living with foster parents in the single family home.
The boy was air-lifted to Banner Desert Medical Center in extremely critical condition, according to Cichocki.
Lt. Tamatha Villar with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday the boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Villar said there was a pool fence around the pool however, it does not appear the lock was working properly.
The foster parents are not being investigated and this is not a criminal case, according to Villar.
The incident appears to be an accident.
