Divers recovered the body of a drowning victim at the Salt River Thursday morning around 9:30 a.m. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Robert Frances.
Wednesday, four friends were tubing down the Salt River and stopped at Pebble Beach around 4:40 p.m. When one of them swam out and started flailing, Frances and two others went out to help him.
When Frances tried to swim back to his original position, he was swept under the current and never resurfaced. The water was about 30 feet deep at that point, said Bill Grubb of the Rural Metro Fire Department.
Search teams resumed the search again Thursday morning. Frances' body was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office and the investigation is ongoing.
