April Pools Day will be marked Saturday in Gilbert. Town officials say this is a good day for parents to discuss pool safety with their children and ensure that their own poools are safe for kids.
They also note that one of the best ways to prevent drownings is for parents to supervise their children around water.
"Whether it is a family gathering near a swimming pool or a single child in a bath tub, the key to water safety is to always designate at least one adult to supervise children around water at all times," said assistant town Manager Tami Ryall.

The event will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Mesquite Junior High Aquatic Center, 100 W. Mesquite Street, Gilbert.
