Phoenix police have identified a 43-year-old man who drowned at an Ahwatukee Foothills home Monday morning. Jason Briscoe had gone for a morning swim when he drowned, his brother Christian Briscoe said.
Police said the incident appeared to be an accidental drowning.
The Phoenix Fire Department came to the home in the 4200 block of East Windsong Drive, near 42nd Street and Chandler Boulevard, after receiving a call at about 4:20 a.m., Phoenix Fire Division Chief for the Public Information Office Mark Faulkner said.
This is the second fatal Ahwatukee drowning within about the past two weeks reported to Phoenix Fire, Faulkner said.
Christian Briscoe said his brother was found by his wife, who tried to do CPR on him.
Phoenix Fire staff also tried to revive Briscoe but he was dead at the scene, Faulkner said. "We tell people make sure you swim with someone else," he said. "We realize that for children. We don't often think about that when we talk about adults. We have more adult drownings in the Valley than pediatric drownings."
