An 8-month-old boy died at the hospital Saturday after nearly drowning in a bathtub earlier that day, according to officials.
Luis Samudio with the Phoenix Police Department says the child was pronounced deceased just moments after arriving at the hospital.
Phoenix Fire Department Captain Alex Rangel said the child had been left alone for about 20 minutes in an empty tub at a home near 16th Avenue and Rose Lane.
A family member reportedly found the child in the tub that had somehow filled with water and called 911.
The parents were coached on how to do CPR until firefighters arrived, Rangel said.
The boy was taken to a local hospital in extremely critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to Samudio there are currently no charges.
