A 3-year-old boy was in stable condition at Maricopa County Medical Center after falling into a pool Saturday and nearly drowning.
Phoenix fire Capt. Doug Mummert said the incident happened at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of East Almeria Road about 4:45 p.m.
Several children were supposed to be in the care of a woman at one of the apartments, Mummert said. The children decided to go outside and took the 3-year-old, who was identified as Tupac Wilson. He fell into the pool, Mummert said.
The children pulled him out and pressed on his stomach, causing him to spit up water. The boy was in the pool about two minutes, the children told authorities. No one called 911 until the child's mother arrived a short time later, Mummert said. Paramedics treated and revived the child at the scene before taking him to the hospital.
