A 2-year-old child has been taken to the hospital after a near-drowning at a home near Beardsley and 91st Ave in Peoria around 3:15 p.m. Sunday.
The child was underwater for at least 5 minutes. The child had slipped into the pool unnoticed during a Father's Day party. There was no fence around the pool.
When she was pulled from the pool, she wasn't breathing. Family members started CPR and called 911.
The little girl didn't live at the home, but was among a group of about 15 people celebrating the holiday.
The 2-year-old was airlifted to Phoenix Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Mike Tellef, of Peoria Police and Fire, said Sunday night that her condition was improving.
