A 15-month-old girl drowned in a bucket of water in her family's backyard on Saturday, a Mesa fire official said.
At about 1:20 p.m., Macy Kelly was found by a family member in a 2- to 3-gallon bucket that was about one-third full, said Capt. Ibard Brimley of the Mesa Fire Department. She was airlifted from the home in the 1700 block of South Lemon and taken to Desert Samaritan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. This is the first fatal drowning in Mesa this year.
